New Delhi | Jagran Press Office: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh today at 1 p.m. The development of the first phase of the airport is being done at a cost of over Rs 10,050 crore. The airport covers more than 1,300 hectares of land, the first completed phase of the airport will have a capacity to serve around 1.2 crore of passengers per year and the work is expected to be completed by 2024. According to the office Prime Minister (PMO), Uttar Pradesh will become the only Indian state to have five international airports.

This airport will be the second international airport to be installed in the Delhi NCR. It will help relieve congestion at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The airport is strategically located and will serve residents of cities such as Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad and surrounding areas. The airport will be the logistics gateway to northern India. Because of its size and capacity, the airport will be a game-changer for Uttar Pradesh. This will unleash Uttar Pradesh’s potential in the world and help establish the state on the global logistics map.

10:00 am: The government of Yogi Adityanath in Uttar Pradesh has allocated 3,301 crore rupees for the rehabilitation of people displaced due to the ongoing construction of Jewar Airport. 9:30 am: Noida International Airport will bring investments of up to Rs 35,000 crore to Uttar Pradesh and the new project will provide one lakh job opportunities, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday.

8:40 am: The airport introduces a pivoting aircraft stand concept, giving airlines the flexibility to operate an aircraft for domestic and international flights from the same contact stand, without having to reposition the aircraft.

8:32 am: The airport will also be linked to the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed train project, allowing travel between Delhi and the airport in just 21 minutes. The airport will also house a state-of-the-art maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service. The airport design is focused on low operating costs and smooth and fast transfer processes for passengers.

8:24 am: Noida and Delhi will be connected to the airport by a hassle-free metro service. All major nearby roads and highways, such as Yamuna Expressway, Western Ring Road, Eastern Ring Road, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and others, will be connected to the airport.

8:15 am: The government of Uttar Pradesh is spending Rs 4,326 crore on land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement.

8:10 am: Noida International Airport will be implemented in four phases and work on the first phase is expected to be completed in 36 months, Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Bansal said. The traffic of 12 million passengers per year is expected in the first phase and by the completion of the final phase, i.e. between 2040-50, the capacity of Jewar airport will be to handle 70 million passengers per year.
