Unreal Engine 5 is now publicly available, and more and more developers are showing off what it’s capable of with numerous tech demos.
A few days ago, Lorenzo Drago have shared a new tech demo video on their YouTube channel that showcases an incredibly realistic station running in Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen. Although the demo does not run in real time, it still looks extremely impressive and extremely realistic, so much so that the station looks like the real thing at first glance.
My latest environment, loosely based on an actual train station in Toyama, Japan.
The environment runs on Unreal Engine 5, lit with Lumen. I did not use Nanite.
I worked on all the modeling, texturing, lighting and animation for this video.
The only exception is the foliage, which comes from Quixel Megascans.
– Is it in real time?
No, it’s a high resolution rendering (about 7 frames per second). I can run it in real time (30-50 fps 1440p for the day), but the image quality is worse. It’s not particularly optimized anyway, you could get better performance with a bit more work
