Platform9 Announces GitOps SaaS Engine to Simplify Multicloud Operations and Governance with Latest Release of Kubernetes

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA, 21 October 2021 / PRNewswire / – Platform9, the leader in multicloud Kubernetes-as-a-Service, today announced a number of new enterprise features that significantly remove the operational complexities of managing multi-cluster and multicloud Kubernetes deployments. Key advancements include the Profile Engine for model-based inter-cluster governance, IDE enhancements for quick access to running workloads, user-specified upgrade policies, KubeVirt enhancements, and CIS Benchmarking compliance.

“Focused on multicloud governance, security, and ease of use features, this release of the product further simplifies Kubernetes by introducing new developer-centric features that allow instant access to any pod, deployment, or service that is in progress. execution ”, said Madhura Maskasky, co-founder of Platform9 and vice president of products. “The result is tangible and significant productivity gains through the simplicity of cohesive management and governance from a single pane of glass. “

With Kubernetes managed by Platform9 (PMK), users can easily create upstream Kubernetes clusters using the SaaS platform, on bare metal, AWS and Azure IaaS layers, and with a few clicks, import clusters from EKS, AKS and GKE .

Updates offered in this release include:

GitOps Profile Engine: Profile Engine enables GitOps-style automation in multicloud environments by allowing administrators to define cluster configurations as desired state models and then deploy them to any target cluster. The deployment process updates the state of the target cluster to ensure that it conforms to the profile. Comparison and drift analyzes are integrated to detect changes in compliant configurations so that users can take appropriate corrective action. By treating cluster configuration through declarative profiles, which can be treated like versioned source code, it is easier to provision multiple clusters for new applications or teams, rebuild clusters, or compare clusters and analyze them. differences. Additionally, the Profile Engine ensures consistency, compliance, and standardization to combat sprawl, security breaches, and lack of policy compliance.

Upgrade strategies: Customers want flexibility in how and when to upgrade their production clusters. This version offers three upgrade options:

  • Sequential: worker nodes are upgraded in sequence on a continuous basis
  • Parallel percentage: Users can specify a percentage of nodes to upgrade simultaneously
  • Group: users can manually select nodes

Storage classes / PV / PVC / CSI pilots: This release provides detailed views of objects across all cluster types, providing unparalleled visibility into storage details right in the user interface. Adding a new class of storage is easy with automatic detection of CSI drivers for one-click deployment of persistent storage.

KubeVirt improvements: Platform9 Managed KubeVirt enables users to run both applications and legacy virtual machine containers on a unified, fully managed platform. This new release introduces a management user interface and wizard-based configuration and provisioning so that users can easily create virtual machines, attach disks, start / stop virtual machine instances, view instance details and much more in just a few clicks.

SIC benchmark: Platform9 is now CIS Benchmark compliant, extending our security posture which includes SoC2 compliance, encrypted networking between clusters, pods and nodes, encryption at rest and the ZeroTrust SaaS architecture.

Other important updates include a 10-fold improvement in user interface performance and responsiveness; detailed details on storage, pods, deployments and views of services; logs, events on all types of clusters; support for Kubernetes 1.21 and containerd.

All of these advancements are combined with Platform9’s unique SaaS-based closed-loop automation – including deployment, monitoring, alerting, self-repair, and proactive troubleshooting and support – that ensures a multicluster SLA and 99.9% multicloud. Platform9’s 100% CKA Certified Solution Architects and Customer Success Teams function as an extension of customers’ SRE and DevOps teams, providing in-depth on-demand Kubernetes K8 expertise and proactively resolving issues 24/7. 7.
