During the pandemic, how did you take advantage of cloud infrastructure to ensure that applications were delivered with high availability, excellent performance, and were developed in an agile manner?

We have been using hybrid cloud for over five years now and most of our mission-critical applications are already hosted in a cloud environment. The cloud allows us to quickly and easily access information anywhere, anytime in the world, using secure internet connectivity.

What role does the cloud play in helping you deliver simpler, smarter, scalable, and secure applications and services?

Cloud computing allows us to keep information on a remote server (the cloud), instead of trapping it in a local server. We can access applications and data from a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer as long as we have an internet connection.

Cloud computing systems integrate data from many different sources on the network. Cloud computing systems allow infrastructure, software and platforms to be used with a common service logic.

Tell me more specifically what your company is doing for IT modernization through the cloud? How are you leveraging the cloud to renovate the IT core and front-end to improve data access, security and agility?

We have done a lot of work on IT modernization and we continue to move our local infrastructure to a cloud environment. Adapting to cloud technology is more than an afterthought in today’s businesses. To stay competitive in the marketplace and relevant, it is essential for businesses to operate the cloud more efficiently with the necessary security controls. The customer needs prompt feedback from their supplier and no matter what technology we use, the availability and quality of service is important to the customer.

To be successful with IT modernization, organizations must shed decades of legacy systems, move to the cloud, and redesign systems to focus on consumers, not the organization. What are the building blocks / main checklist of the IT modernization plan?

There are several parameters / checklist that should be listed before proceeding with IT modernization, namely:
Assess current state of existing systems, including list of applications / hardware infrastructure
Based on the assessment conducted in the first phase, choose the modernization approach that best suits your needs and will help you get results quickly. Besides modernization approaches, let’s consider existing products that we can use instead. There is no need to reinvent the wheel if there is a SaaS solution available at a fraction of the cost.

The most expensive way to modernize is not to modernize at all. But, as in any software development project, we will need an effort estimate, which is usually done using specific methodologies and tools.

Data security is one of the essential components of any cloud technology. All customer requirements should be reviewed before finalizing any cloud solution.

Why is hybrid cloud proving such a popular and pragmatic model for infrastructure deployment?

A hybrid approach allows businesses to manage their databases and applications much more efficiently. Businesses can host their most valuable data on private clouds and dedicated servers where they have absolute control over data security.

With a private cloud, businesses own and operate data center infrastructure, requiring significant capital outlays and fixed costs. Alternatively, public cloud resources and services are accounted for as variable and operational expenses. Hybrid cloud users can choose to run workloads in the most cost effective environment.

Hybrid cloud offers more resource options through a public cloud provider compared to an organization’s physical data center. This makes it easier to provision, deploy, and scale resources to meet peak demand. When demand exceeds the capacity of the on-premises data center, an organization can deploy the application to the public cloud to access additional scalability and capacity.
Organizations in highly regulated industries face restrictions on the location of data, which often means they can’t move certain workloads to the public cloud. With hybrid cloud, businesses can keep data in a private environment while operating workloads in the cloud, or they can operate workloads in a private data center and move data to and from the public cloud. as required. This allows businesses to meet regulatory requirements while benefiting from the elasticity of the cloud.
