The Contributory Former Servicemen’s Health Scheme (ECHS) has also suffered due to a budget cut of Rs 1,990 crore, he said.
The Modi government also restricted the purchase of goods from the department of canteen shops and GST was imposed, Kumar said. “The Modi government has also imposed a tax on soldiers’ ‘disability pension’. It’s shameful,” he said.
Congressional governments have always worked in the interests of ex-servicemen. They were engaged in workplaces such as gas pumps, gas agencies and coal shipping after retirement, he said.
“However, these lanes were closed/almost completed during the tenure of the Modi government due to privatizations. Oil companies are not making reservations, while government companies have also been gradually shutting it down,” Kumar added.
