A new Dungeons & Dragons video game is currently in development, with Unreal Engine 5 helping to bring the beloved fantasy franchise to life.

A brand new Dungeons & Dragons The video game, built on Unreal Engine 5, was announced by developer Invoke Studios and series publisher Wizards of the Coast. The iconic tabletop fantasy franchise has inspired a number of video games over the years, ranging from epic action games to RPG titles that mirror the traditional tabletop experience. The best D&D video game adaptations manage to capture the heart of the beloved franchise, and now another new game is being built on UE5.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

The latest video game adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons the deductible was that of last year Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance. Published by Wizards of the Coast and developed by Tuque Games, the intense action-RPG sees players travel to the frozen region of Icewind Gale and battle hordes of vicious monsters. Rather than creating their own custom character, the fantasy brawler lets players choose between four legendary heroes: Drizzt Do’Urden, Catti-brie, Bruenor Battlehammer, and Wulfgar. While the title was hailed for its beautiful portrayal of Icewind Gale and its residents, many fans considered D&D: Dark Alliance a poor role-playing game due to its lack of character customization and repetitive gameplay.

As reported by Eurogamera brand new Dungeons & Dragons video game is built on Unreal Engine 5. The project is developed by D&D: Dark Alliance developer Tuque Games, which was officially rebranded as Invoke Studios. Wizards of the Coast has announced that the new project will be a big budget AAA game and will be built on the UE5 engine. New Dungeons & Dragons is also helmed by Dominic Guay, a Ubisoft veteran known for producing entries in the Watch Dogs, Far Cry and Burst cell franchisees.

Dungeons & Dragons video games create interactive adventures

Alongside Invoke Studios’ upcoming project, last year it was announced that an open world Dungeons & Dragons the video game is also in preparation. Developed by Hidden Path Entertainment, this project was apparently still in its infancy when it was first revealed. Since the hidden path is D&D game will also have AAA reach, it remains to be seen how Invoke Studios’ next fantastic game will fare. Perhaps the recently announced UE5 project will aim for a smaller scope and focus on RPG elements, rather than creating a huge open world.

Dungeons & Dragons has inspired countless fantastic video games, and now the franchise is ready for another full-fledged game. Invoke Studios’ project remains a mystery, but the use of Unreal Engine 5 means the game will undoubtedly feature a beautiful fantasy world for players to explore. Whereas Dark Alliance was seen as an overall disappointment, I hope the team has learned from this experience and is well equipped for the journey of creating another Dungeons & Dragons adventure.
